Human interleukin-1 family member 7 (IL-37) is a member of interleukin-1 cytokine family. It is reported that five alternative splicing transcript variants encoding different subtypes have different expression profiles. The longest IL-37 transcript is called IL-37b or IL-37 isoform 1, which encodes a propeptide with 218 amino acid residues and a propeptide with 45 amino acids, and is cleaved to produce a mature protein. IL37b binds to IL18 Rα with low affinity, but does not produce any IL-18 excitation or antagonism.
